LAURENCE HART RELEASES CLOSED STATION PLATFORM VIA LAUNCHINGPAD MEDIA

New Brunswick, NJ – October 18, 2011 – Today, New Jersey singer-songwriter Laurence Hart

is releasing his new album “Closed Station Platform” on the Launchingpad Media label.

This is the inaugural release by Launchingpad Media and the first album from Laurence

Hart in over 15 years.

Having played and recorded with a number of bands in the tri-state area before releasing

“Casaluna” in 1995, “Closed Station Platform” is his return to the studio. Utilizing

modern home recording techniques, Hart’s versatility is at the forefront on the new CD.

In addition to self-producing the project, tracks were recorded in his home studio, with

his brother Bob Hart (Spiraling, Clare and The Reasons) providing bass and additional

instruments. Mixed by Plink Giglio of 17th Avenue Audio Productions in Dayton, NJ, made

it “possible for me to release this CD” Hart said. The ability to have the material on

hand 24/7, to mix the music at any location and play with ideas made Laurence’s

transition into the studio a more straightforward proposition then in the past. Hart

found the most rewarding part of the experience was that he could refine his sound,

organically and manically, on his own terms, at his own pace, giving it the time and

space needed to develop into what he envisioned.

Grounded in the classic rock sounds of his childhood, informed by the pop (non)

sensibilities of the 80′s when he began playing with Jersey Shore staple Mike Dalton, and

set free by the explosion of diversity in music over the past 15 years, Laurence remains

influenced by all, but not bound to any. Mixing thoughtful lyrics with simple yet

powerful melodies gives his music a driving and evocative nature that sounds

simultaneously fresh and familiar.

In contrast to the tight, polished tracks that emerged from the studio sessions, the live

performances of the material finds them opened and explored as starting points in a

musical conversation with the audience. Laurence’s shows are marked by his signature

Power-strum style, underscored by loops and other techniques, to creates sonic landscapes

that he interlaces with stirring leads to generate a sound that has no business coming

from a lone acoustic guitar.

The music is currently available on iTunes and all the major electronic music vendors, as

well as the laurencehart.com website. The CD can also be purchased at the legendary NJ

record stores Vintage Vinyl in Fords and The Princeton Record Exchange in Princeton.

Canal Fest 2011

An article about my friend Michael Steinbruck’s Iguana Music and the incredible things they keep doing!

Community poised to help Franklin Food Bank, promote canal and Millstone Valley

SOMERSET —  Iguana Music helped forge a new partnership with Millstone Valley residents, businesses and community organizations to stage the first annual Delaware & Raritan Canal Festival (CanalFest). Event organizers worked hard to solicit and coordinate community assets to develop, fund and run the event.

“I have been consistently amazed by the outpouring of support from every possible direction,” stated Iguana founder and CanalFest co-chair Michael Steinbruck. “No matter whose door we knocked on, the answer kept coming back yes. It seems everyone has something to offer and together we are creating this amazing event.”

Planners hope to grow the event into an annual celebration and fundraiser. It is fully funded by residential and business sponsors. Amazingly, some of the same businesses and residents who sustained significant flood damage are among the event sponsors. One such sponsor, the Millstone Getty on Amwell Road, was four feet underwater a few weeks ago and is now a chief sponsor of the event.

The origins of CanalFest involved a blend of interests, but the common thread has been the desire to strengthen our community and help others in difficult times. CanalFest planners hope to raise the profile of area businesses and community groups, promote canal eco-tourism, bring neighbors together and most importantly to help those in need by supporting the Franklin Township Food Bank.

The fundraiser will be held on Saturday, Oct. 15, from 11 a.m. – 5 p.m. at East Millstone Park (Amwell Road and Market Street). Iguana Music has booked a host of top notch musicians who volunteer their talents playing a wide variety of genres and instrumentation. Live bands performing in include Amethyst, the East MillSTONES, the Navvies, the Raven Rock Rounders, Kindred Souls, Jager Soprano, Laurence Hart, and Irish Piper, Brian Szura. A suggested donation of $10 profits going directly to the food pantry. Canned good donations are also being collected to help meet increased demand. Alcohol will not be served at the event.
